For years it has been thought that selling the business and web site would create the traffic needed to succeed online.  However, times are always changing and the way people do business online is no different.  If you really want to have success on the internet today you have got to stop selling your internet marketing web site and start selling yourself.

The truth on MLM is that no one wants to sit and read about you selling the opportunity you have to offer.  It is boring, too aggressive, and not the right approach for reaching out to your prospects.  Do you like to be pressured when you go to a retail store or shop online?  Probably not and that is what you have to think about when doing your own marketing.

Instead, people want to talk about themselves and find something that suits them best.  If you are going to do any kind of selling, make it strictly about the prospect.  In order to do so, you first have to be willing to listen.  Talk to them and listen to what they are looking for, what their needs and wants are, and what they dream of in the future.

Knowing this information will help you relate your product or service specifically to their needs.  Now it will not sound like they are just another person on your list you are reading a sales pitch to.  The more personal you can make your marketing the better. 

The reason selling the opportunity was so effective over the past decade is because it was not always easy to reach people.  As soon as you actually got in front of people, you had to make use of the little time there was.

It is still crucial you value whatever time you get in front of prospects.  However, it is much easier to connect with people today and actually have a conversation than it was even three or four years ago.  Thanks to social sites, forums and blog, you can build quality relationships which in turn make it far easier to generate traffic and sells.

If you want to be successful and make money online with an internet marketing business, you have got to stop selling the opportunity and start selling yourself.  Get into forums and social sites and put a face on the name.  The truth on MLM is that it is dead.  Internet marketing has taken over the internet and is flourishing thanks to social sites, blogs and forums.
